Our Year 6 pupils deserve a truly special mention this week as they completed their SATs. It is often easy to focus on the results at the end of a journey but watching the children this week, it was their character that truly shone through.

No two days are ever the same at Richard Coates CE Primary School and this festive season has been no exception! On Tuesday, we were graced at the school gates by the arrival of a parade of monarchs as Year 2 enjoyed their Kings, Queens and Castles Day. It was wonderful to see their regal outfits and hear about the knowledge that they have gained in this fascinating topic.

The Advent season is a magical time in primary schools, where we enjoy bringing the community together for celebrations. This week, the festive spirit has been in full swing, beginning with our youngest learners in Nursery and Reception. They kicked off the season beautifully with a Christingle service at St Mary’s Parish Church. The church was aglow with lights as the children sang traditional songs and learned about the significance of each part of the Christingle. On their way back to school, they were warmly greeted by local residents who praised their impeccable manners - what wonderful representatives for our school!

At the beginning of this week, we proudly introduced our new Art Ambassadors: Bella, Arlen, Harry, Lilah, Ella, Beth, Jacob, Effie, Milly, Olivia, and Elliott. Congratulations to this talented group, who will inspire creativity and self-expression across the school with their enthusiasm for art. We’re confident their leadership will have a wonderful impact throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing the inspiring work that they encourage in others.
