Vision and Values

Let Your Light Shine

Our vision comes from Matthew 5:16, where Jesus says: "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Every child has a light of their own: their personality, their talents and the qualities that make them unique. As a Church school, we believe these gifts reflect God's love. Our role is to help each child discover their light and let it shine.

A light is also meant to be shared. Through kind words, helping hands and good choices, children learn that their light can brighten the lives of others.

Our values

Our vision is lived out every day through three values. Children can explain what each one means and how they show it.

Kindness
Noticing when someone needs help and doing something about it. The story of the Good Samaritan ends with Jesus saying "Go and do the same", and we ask children to do just that.

Respect
Treating everyone fairly and with care, because every person matters. As a Church school, we believe everyone is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

Perseverance
Keeping going when things are difficult and not giving up on doing what is right. The Bible encourages us not to "become weary in doing good" (Galatians 6:9), and every small effort makes a difference.

Our vision in school life

In lessons, children are encouraged to be curious, have a go and grow in confidence. Reading is at the heart of our curriculum, and learning comes to life through investigating, making, performing and exploring outdoors.

In friendships and behaviour, every day is a fresh start. When things go wrong, children are helped to put them right. Our house system celebrates children who live out our values, with the focus on what we achieve together.

In worship, the whole school comes together to pause and reflect. Children help to lead it and take away a challenge to try in class, in the playground and at home. We have close links with St Mary's Parish Church and Ponteland Methodist Church, and both visit us regularly.

In moments of reflection, children are encouraged to look in at their own feelings, look out at the people and world around them, and look up to God and life's big questions.

In our community, clubs, trips and local projects show children that they can make a real difference beyond our school gates.
