What does your child learn at school each day? Find information about our curriculum subjects here.
The aim of our curriculum is to ensure that each child achieves to the best of their ability so that they can “let their light shine”. We believe language lies at the heart of all learning and reading unlocks the door to success throughout school and in life beyond. For this reason reading has a significant importance and we aim to ensure that each child is a fluent reader by the age of 7.
Our broad and ambitious curriculum is built upon the National Curriculum. Topics are carefully chosen to ensure that pupils can make sense of the global world in which they live. It provides opportunities for them to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work cooperatively with others while developing key knowledge and skills, thereby achieving their full potential.
Lessons are planned with thought to the sequence of learning so that children learn more and remember more. We use a wide range of stimulus and resources across the curriculum to engage children, including books and stories, artefacts, pictures, visits and visitors and digital resources.
Richard Coates CE Primary School’s curriculum is underpinned by our core Christian values of respect for self and respect for others:
